Leading the Way to a Healthier Future

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

As you may know, the healthcare industry is going through significant changes, not the least of which is an increasing focus on quality, value and collaboration.  AVH remains committed first and foremost to ensuring high quality experiences every time that you walk through our doors.

It is evident that the providers, nurses and staff here at AVH are making a tremendous difference in the lives of area residents.

Some of the exciting things happening at AVH include:

  • Our recent affiliation membership in North Country Healthcare (NCH), the newest Integrated Health Delivery Network  in New Hampshire.  Along with our sister hospitals (Littleton Regional Healthcare in Littleton; Weeks Medical Center in Lancaster; and Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook) we’re working together to improve the quality and limit the cost of healthcare in the North Country.
  • The offerings of AVH Surgical Associates continue to grow and provide a wide range of services to meet the majority of area residents’ healthcare needs, including the expansion of our orthopedic service offerings to include two new providers from the Alpine Clinic, a direct result of our new collaborative affiliation with NCH.  More new or expanded service announcements will be coming in the coming weeks.
  • The recent Accreditation by the American College of Radiology of four modalities within our diagnostic imaging service line, which relies on external objective review of key criteria that validate the state-of-the-art tools and techniques used by our staff, providing the very best imaging services available.
  • The Center for Medicare Studies’ unannounced 3-year inspection in May, which after a team of seven surveyors spent 3 days on site at AVH looking for deficiencies, found that we were meeting or exceeding their standards in each and every Condition of Participation with Medicare, both from a facility safety and security standpoint, and from a general clinical practice perspective.

The outlook and future of AVH remains bright, and our momentum is increasing! I continue to be extremely proud of the staff and providers here at AVH, and their commitment to serving the families and visitors to the Berlin/Gohram region.

Sincerely,

Michael Peterson, FACHE
